INTRODUCTION AND BACKGROUND INFORMATION

Jotsholo Village is one of the six villages of Jotsholo Ward. Most of the amenities in the village are in place except for the Pre-School / Play Centre for the village. Big structures such as schools, residential houses and even Arda stands are already in place but all children in the village are using a makeshift structure to play in.

Lupane District Development Association is therefore applying for assistance for the construction of the Jotsholo village Pre-School / Play Centre. The site for the Pre-School has been settled with the local authority. Also, this Pre-School will include Jotsholo Village and Arda Children as they are within the same village.

Currently, children wonder under trees or sometimes rent in the Roman Catholic Mission old structures within the village. This is difficult for some of the parents as they can’t cope with the requirements of the mission.

As the MDGs call for universal primary education, parents feel this stage in their children’s life is very important.

OBJECTIVES OF THE PROJECT

The objectives of the projective are as follows:

  • To uplift the standards of their children at a rightful stage.
  • To assist their children to be in shelter at school.

PROJECT BENEFICIARIES

Jotsholo Village and Arda residents are the official benefits of the project. These are the most affected children who continue to feel the scotching sun, rain fall problems affecting them under the shades of trees. Even the Pre-School Tutors will benefit from the programme as they are having hard times with the children under such conditions.

The village as a whole will benefit from the programme as they will be carrying out some of their occasional celebrations, or Village meetings in the site/structure. This is a benefit for the whole of Jotsholo Ward.

PROJECT REQUIREMENTS

The project requires building materials of a well set-planned structure. This is by the projects Intreme Committee. The project also requires play centre equipment. The cry is to be assisted with the full set of building material and set of the play centre equipments. For the ground work at the site, there is too much man power. Constructors /Builders are always available who can do a very good job. They have their full building instruments in place and the standard.

PROJECT JUSTIFICATION

Jotsholo Village’s Pre-School is a pre-requisite to the centre of Jotsholo Growth Point. There is no other programme/exercise which can bypass it. The centrality of the site makes it very attractive as it serves the entire Ward. Looking at the number of children from Jotsholo Village residents and Arda residents that will benefit from this programme makes it a worthwhile project for any community
