Project DetailsName of Project: Jotsholo Homesteads Electrification BACKGROUND INFORMATION AND INTRODUCTIONThe 70 homesteads are part of Jotsholo Village. They are scattered around the growth Point just by the east. These homesteads were very unfortunate, when the Rural Electrification Programme were doing pole and electricity wire mounting, they did it along the main roads only. The well up one were able to pull to their homesteads. This resulted in many homesteads to remain unassisted; also it was not easy for any individual to do anything considering the hush economic status. Well, being part of the society, they were busy entering here and there trying to find a way to be assisted. This took them a long time before they gave up on the idea. They finally submitted their request to LUDDA Offices and it all were advised there were no resources to drum up support for such a venture, and so the campaign was shelved. As we fast approach the Millennium Development Goals deadline, we believe by linking up our community to the grid will not only uplift the quality of life amongst our people but will set us a step closer to achieving the set MDGs. OBJECTIVESThe objectives are:-
PROJECT JUSTIFICATIONLupane as a whole wishes all its areas to be rural electrified. It has become rather easy for homesteads to be electrified than before. It does not need a lot of funds to be spent now. Lupane District Development Assoc. is in full support for the area to be assisted. This will also encourage other areas near serviced ones to follow our approach and start doing something for their own areas. LUDDA will be very thankful if the group of Jotsholo can be assisted by the International Community.
